It is my honor and privilege to announce that Beth Franklin, from the Rotary Club of Independence, will be our District Governor for Missouri District 6040 for Rotary year 2027-28!
Beth joined the Rotary Club of Independence in 2015, She was their Club President in 2020-21 after serving in several Club positions. Beth is currently the Chair of the District Grants Subcommittee for our District, and has worked with several of the clubs on their District Grants and projects the last couple of years. She is also a District Representative for Show Me Rotary. She is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute. Beth has attended Rotary International Conventions in Houston, Texas and Melbourne Australia.
Beth has an active real estate team in Missouri and Kansas and a Broker with Keller Williams Platinum Partners Lee's Summit. In addition to her involvement with Rotary, she is serving or has served on the Boards of Salvation Army, Independence Chamber of Commerce (Board Chair 2021), Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors, Heartland Multiple Listing Service (President 2015), Independence Housing Authority, Independence Ennovation Center, and the Truman Heartland Community Foundation.
Beth was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She moved to Lee's Summit in 1994 and then moved to Independence in 2015. She is married to Karl Mawhirter, who is retired from Cummins, and now operates Karl's Automotive Specialty Services. Beth has 2 grown children, a grown step daughter, 5 grandchildren and 1 (so far) great grandson. Her family is spread coast to coast so traveling is an important part of her and Karl's life. Beth hobbies include going out to see live music, working in her yard and following the Kansas City Chiefs.
