We are officially two months into our new Rotary year, and I have been enjoying every club visit, hearing about all the amazing things we are doing within our communities, and sharing the message of Serving Together and Uniting for Good.

The Rotary Club of Lee's Summit spent part of this past weekend at Rotary Camp.  Thank you to everyone who helped achieve a lot in a brief period of time.

Independence Uncorked 

The Eastern Independence Rotary Club is pleased to present the 12th Annual Independence Uncorked on September 13, 2025.  It is a great day filled with wine, music, food, vendors, and more.  This signature event has gifted over $700,00 in donations to local non-profits since its beginning.  This year's Charity of Choice is Rotary Youth Camp.  Come out and have fun for a great cause.

FIFA World Cup Comes to KC
As many of you are already aware, Kansas City is preparing to welcome an estimated 650,000 soccer fans into our metro next summer for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, …and Rotary will be there for the action!
 
We’ve come together with our neighboring district in Kansas to form a World Cup-specific planning committee, co-chaired by Plaza Rotary Club International Service Chair Kathy Kopach and District 5710 PDG Stephanie Meyer. Conversations are underway about how to best welcome our guests, showcase Rotary, and bring attention to vital causes, including the prevalence of human trafficking at such events.

Rotary Area of Focus: Basic Education

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate.  That's 17% of the world's adult population.  Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

Bethany, MO: Rotary District 6040 Governor Jodi Sundaram of Liberty, third from left, visited the Bethany Rotary Club last Thursday at the senior center. Sundaram was welcomed by Rotary members Mike Mattson, Cliff Addison, Club president Brandy Furguson, Kathy Conger, Kurt Kimble and Charlie Trump, from left to right. During her talk, Governor Sundaram pointed out that district Rotarians are preparing to host thousands of visitors to the FIFA World Cup next year in Kansas City. Larry Lunsford, a member of the Kansas City Plaza club, will become president of Rotary International in 2026. Lunsford has made visits to Bethany on several occasions as the chairman of the district shoe drive.–Republican-Clipper photo
