As you have no doubt heard reported by the media, a case of vaccine-derived polio virus has been reported in the state of New York.  In response to this news, Mike McGovern, Chair of Rotary's International PolioPlus Committee, issued a statement saying that our work as Rotary members is not yet finished in eradicating polio.  Now more than ever, the world needs us.  It is important to emphasize the importance of our PolioPlus campaigns and World Polio Day and take an active role in our collective eradication efforts.

Greetings from District Governor Kent! Hope all has gone well with your Clubs in July of this new Rotary year. I did attend RYLA in July as a Counselor for my 7th year. It was a great experience working with 100 of our young adults in the State of Missouri. They were great and did some amazing things. A big thank you Valerie Anderson, Rich Linden and all the Board members and staff that make RYLA happen for our 3 Districts in Missouri. I am finalizing the schedule for the Club Visits in the next couple of weeks and can’t wait to start seeing all the Clubs and the things they are doing in their areas. Our committees will soon be sending out some information for World Polio Day on October 24 and our Foundation Dinner on Saturday, November 5th at the Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs. The August monthly theme for Rotary is Membership & Extension. Please “Imagine” what all you could do with more members in your Club or if you added a Satellite Club. Just ask someone to come to a meeting and I bet they will enjoy all your Club does and will become a member. Have a great August!
