District 6040 is excited to share some information about the 2024 Rotary Foundation Dinner, which will be held Saturday, November 9 at the Argosy.

We have a great program planned, and hope to see every club in the district represented. Rotary Foundation Trustee Larry Lunsford will deliver the keynote address, and there will be new twists on old favorites like the large item raffle, auctions, and wine/whiskey pulls. More information will be sent out later by Foundation Dinner Chair Beth Franklin with further event details.

It's not too early for clubs to start planning for budgeting to sponsor and attend the dinner. The club sponsorship form is attached with a rundown of the different sponsorship levels, as is the info about a special Paul Harris Society reception that will take place right before the dinner.
RLI Is For You
According to Jerry Nolen, District Governor Elect, Rotary International District 6060, "The Rotary Learning Institute (RLI) is a wonderful way for Rotarians to learn more about Rotary.  One of the best things participation in RLI vs. the Rotary Learning Center is the discussions that take place between fellow Rotarians.  In our sessions, it has been fun hearing from Rotarians in other parts of the Rotary world."

Membership Moment

You all know Rotary is very near and dear to my heart.  And, I can be a little bit competitive.  We are in the final stretches of this Rotary year and I'd like to see Rotary membership finish strong for our district.  I want to forge ahead of District 6060 and 6080.  But that is going to take all of us and each of you.

I have been giving you ideas all year for various people to bring to Rotary...a former member, a teacher, sports fan, person in uniform, family member, neighbor, work friend etc.  Have you invited anyone?

Did you make a new year's Resolution to Bring someone to Rotary?  It is not too late...let's do it this month!  So, you like that George Strait song?...write it down!  Well, write a name down...and call them and invite them to Rotary!

My slogan for the April and May...a take-off on April Showers bring May Flowers...is...April Visitors bring May Members...now let's make that happen.

Club Challenge...let's finish the year with a positive membership growth over last year.  We can do it.  I'll even give the club with the largest membership pro rate growth $100 to use next year for a membership event.  So, let's do this thing called membership and grow Rotary.

Yours in Rotary,
Julie McCoy

Bloomin’ Peony Tour
The Maryville Rotary Club is proud to offer an exciting and unique opportunity to tour one of the largest peony farms in North America located in the heart of Nodaway County, Missouri. Hollingsworth Peonies is a world-renowned peony hybridizer and grower and for the first time in several years, the operator has approved opening his gates on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 in support of Rotary causes. This will be the ONLY time the farm will be open to the public this year!

This event is the organization’s spring fundraiser and will not only allow people from all over the country and world to view the flowers at their most vibrant, but also assist the club in its endeavors to assist students with college scholarships as well as local food and clothing providers helping those members of the Maryville and Nodaway County communities most in need.
