RLI Testimonial

While the Rotary Leadership Institute provided me with a lot of information about the organization that I didn’t know, it also offered me an opportunity to meet other Rotary leaders throughout my district and beyond. To hear from them about how their clubs handle the many different aspects of Rotary was incredibly informative. It also encouraged me to know there are others out there who are just as passionate about the organization as myself. I’m extremely pleased to continue through the RLI process, and plan to complete the program because I left each session feeling more and more excited about Rotary.

If you’re considering starting the process, please do it. Feeling that level of camaraderie made my week! I look forward to the next sessions.

Shoes Caravan
It’s more than a pair of shoes…it’s the first step toward transformation for many of these orphan and vulnerable children we serve.  A pair of shoes helps prevent health issues.  A pair of shoes improves school attendance.  A pair of shoes increases self-confidence.  A pair of shoes represents a wonderful gift to children who do not receive many gifts.

Why new shoes?  New shoes last longer and give children living in poverty something that is theirs.

Our District 6040 Governor, Randy Steinman, has encouraged the Rotary Clubs throughout the great state of Missouri to join the Shoes for Orphan Souls efforts.  District 6060 Governor Valerie Sorensen, and District 6080 Governor Jimmy Standfast, are joining Randy to spread the word as we hope to collect 50,000 pairs of shoes across the state of Missouri this year.

Four Way Speech Contest
Spring 2024 will be one of fun and connection as Rotary District 6040 joins with other Missouri Districts in Margaritaville to celebrate the good that Rotary has achieved this year. One of my favorite events of the spring is the District 6040 4-Way Test Speech Contest. This is a unique way for you to connect with high school students in your area and give them the opportunity to apply the 4-Way Test to their life. Each year these presentations encourage me and solidify my hope for future generations.

Rotary Removing Fistula Shame and empowering Women in Malawi

The Rotary Club of Lilongwe-Lingadzi has worked on a Global Grant in collaboration with District 6040 and The Saint Joseph-East Rotary Club in Missouri, USA, and the Bwaila Hopsital Fistula Care Centre to provide 30 fistula survivors with sewing training, sewing machines and starter kits which included consumables and materials to start a new business. The women have been trained in making reusable sanitary pads and other items to help improve their hygiene during their Fistula recovery period to enable them to generate some income and re-integrate into society. Moreover, through the Global Grant, two industrial sewing machines were donated to FCC so they can also continue to produce reusable sanitary pads.
